Jia Zhang is a New York based artist. She explores the idea of memory and narratives in objects and uses concepts learned while studying information architecture in her art and design work.
Jia Zhang was born in Beijing, China. She attended the Rhode Island School of Design in the United States for Industrial design, graduating in 2003.
She moved to the Phillipines in 2004 and Iceland in 2005 for work. After moving to New York, she served as design director of Xu Bing Studio from 2006 to 2008 and is currently studying for her Design and Technology MFA at Parsons.
She is graduating in Spring 2009, her thesis is a visualization of the potentially homophilic tendencies of search engines.
